The Victoria Falls road and rail bridge. Cecil Rhodes selected the site for this crossing as he wanted people travelling by train to see and feel the spray from the falls on the carriage windows. This is taken from the Devils Cauldron, or Boiling Pot, so called because of the turbulent flow of water pouring into the gorge.
The Main falls seen from the Northern bank. This is in mid season - not in flood and not dried out. In the dry season the feature known as the Devils Armchair, a depression in the lip of the falls would be visible in this shot. |
