This slipway was dug out by hand up to the edge of the river, and then the last bit was blasted through with fire hose jets. It was alongside here that we had our water melons that  the hippos trashed by walking all over them.  The thatch building at the top is our 'marine workshop' and occasional breakfast for the elephants

The Shell Company refuelling barge, Captained by Johnny 'Jock' Grant. He went on to be the shell Co agent at both Livingstone and Lusaka City airports.

A rather tricky operation for the Station engineering team. This aircraft needed a replacement engine after one failed in flight. After removing the old one and bringing it ashore on the back of a passenger launch [see above] the replacement, which was flown out, had to be installed and then test run.  It does not do to drop a tool or a vital part and great care was needed. Some engineers would tie their spanner etc to their wrist,
